Scoring & Integrity

Championship Methodology

Every ranking, every score, every recognition — built on transparent, verifiable methodology governed by institutional standards.

TPI Methodology

The Trading Performance Index — a proprietary dual-model scoring system that rewards skill, discipline, and risk management over speculation.

TPI Retail

(Profit ÷ Realized Drawdown) × Volume Weight

The accessible score. Realized Drawdown is the sum of every losing trade's P&L, so recovered floating drawdowns don't double-penalise a trader. Designed for the public monthly leaderboard where broad participation matters.

TPI Institution

(Profit ÷ Maximum Drawdown) × Volume Weight

The professional score. Maximum Drawdown is the worst peak-to-trough moment on the equity curve — nothing is forgiven. Closer to the risk-adjusted return standard institutional allocators use when reviewing discretionary traders.

Volume Weight — the confidence multiplier

Volume Weight = log₁₀(total trades + 9)

A single lucky trade at 100% win rate is not the same signal as 100 trades at 65%. The volume multiplier grows logarithmically with trade count (1 trade = 1.00×, 15 trades = 1.38×, 100 trades = 2.04×, 1000 trades = 3.00×) so TPI rewards sustained discipline over speculative spikes.

Eligibility Floor — who appears on the ranked leaderboard

≥ 15closed trades in the period
≥ 5distinct active trading days
> 0net profit at close
< 30%max drawdown vs account balance

Traders who don't clear the floor still appear on the wall — their stats are visible but their rank shows "—". This keeps the leaderboard about consistency, not luck.

TPI Retail ensures accessibility. TPI Institution defines professional-grade performance.

Both scores use a 30-day rolling window from verified real-account data. Only competitions lasting 30 days or longer are admitted into the main leaderboard — short prize events are administered separately so the public ranking reflects real trading discipline, not single-event luck.

Competition Standards Authority

IFTC as the Industry Standard

IFTC is not a prize platform. Brokers, prop firms, and academies run their own competitions under the IFTC standard — only events that meet the standard feed into the public leaderboard. Prize money events are run and paid by the hosts, not IFTC.

30-Day Minimum Duration

Only competitions lasting 30 days or longer qualify for the IFTC monthly leaderboard. Shorter events stay as sponsor-run side tournaments — fun, but not a measure of skill worth ranking.

Verified Real Accounts

Every ranked entry is pulled from a real broker account, not self-reported screens. IFTC polls the account via an authenticated API, reconstructs the full trade history, and timestamps every snapshot for audit.

Uniform TPI Formula

Every qualifying competition uses the same TPI Retail and TPI Institution formulas with the same volume weight and eligibility floor. Different event, same scoreboard — so traders can compare across competitions and across months.

Host-Paid Prizes

Prize pools come from the sponsor running each joint competition — broker, prop firm, academy, exchange. IFTC doesn't collect participation fees or take a cut of the prize pool. Our revenue is membership and certification, not tournament rake.

The goal is a single recognised number — a trader's TPI — that carries meaning across every competition they enter, every month, every sponsor. Like the CFA charter in asset management or the Chinook standard in aviation, the value is in the standard itself.

IFTC runs the rulebook. The trading industry runs the events.
