A 61-year-old retired Malaysian woman fell victim to an elaborate romance fraud scheme involving cryptocurrency investments, transferring approximately RM2 million across 20 transactions.

Bukit Aman reported 496 romance and phone scam victims in 2024 alone, with losses totaling RM23.3 million.
