Ethereum Leads Blockchain Developer Growth in 2025 with 16K New Builders
Ethereum developer growth in 2025 continues to outpace every competitor, cementing the network’s dominance in blockchain innovation. According to data from Electric Capital, Ethereum welcomed 16,181 new developers between January and September — far ahead of any other ecosystem.
Why does Ethereum keep winning? Its superior developer tools, vibrant community, and impactful upgrades continue to attract builders. With Proto-Danksharding on the horizon, Layer-2 scaling is set to improve further, reinforcing Ethereum’s position as the top choice for DeFi and decentralized apps.
Solana ranked second with 11,534 new developers, while Bitcoin added 7,494, reflecting growing interest in Layer-2s and Ordinals that expand Bitcoin’s role beyond a “store of value.”
In total, Ethereum leads with 31,869 active developers, followed by Solana (17,708) and Bitcoin (11,036). Other networks like Polygon, Sui, BNB Chain, and Polkadot trail behind.
Developer numbers reflect ecosystem health — more builders mean more innovation, stronger infrastructure, and real-world adoption. Despite faster, cheaper competitors trying to attract talent, Ethereum remains the top destination for Web3 development.
Investors are watching closely — because where developers build, capital flows.
