E&O Launches Andaman Gurney Bridge as New Primary Access to Andaman Island
E&O Unveils Andaman Gurney Bridge, a New Gateway to Andaman Island
Eastern & Oriental Bhd (E&O) has officially introduced the Andaman Gurney Bridge, a purpose-built infrastructure link that will serve as the primary gateway to Andaman Island, strengthening connectivity for one of Penang’s largest integrated developments.
Positioned as the central access point to the emerging township, the new bridge forms a direct link between Gurney Drive and Andaman Island, facilitating improved mobility for residents, businesses, and visitors. The structure is a key component of E&O’s broader master plan to accelerate the transformation of the reclaimed island into a premier residential, commercial, and lifestyle destination.
E&O said the bridge will play a pivotal role in supporting the island’s phased development, enabling seamless traffic flow while accommodating future demand driven by upcoming residential precincts, green public spaces, educational hubs, and hospitality assets. The company noted that the enhanced access is expected to stimulate investment interest and reinforce Penang’s appeal as a high-value property and tourism hub.
Industry analysts view the launch as a significant milestone for the Andaman Island project, underscoring E&O’s commitment to long-term infrastructure-led planning. The bridge is anticipated to elevate the commercial viability of the township by reducing logistical constraints and improving accessibility for both local and international investors.
The unveiling also aligns with Penang’s ongoing efforts to enhance coastal regeneration through connectivity upgrades, particularly in the Gurney Wharf area, where substantial urban revitalisation and public-realm enhancements are underway.
With infrastructure now in place, E&O is expected to ramp up development activities on Andaman Island, including the rollout of new residential offerings and commercial precincts over the coming years.
